We are quickly approaching the end of April! We are living in the midst of this unprecedented virus pandemic, and dealing with life masked, distanced, and in so many ways, alone. I am learning a lot, but not fast enough, about streaming worship on-line, but it is painfully clear I don’t understand enough for it to work fully.
Life is like that, isn’t it? A certain task seems simple enough, but in reality it can take 4 times longer than you expected. Learning anything new is like that.
After seven weeks of “sheltering” we are getting better at protecting ourselves. I applaud you, who have been strict about limiting shopping, and gathering in groups of friends and family. This inconvenience will certainly pass, but we must be vigilant in keeping our distance.
That being said, people are looking to Governor Ducey to “open things up.” I applaud his resistance to do a fully opened economy. We need to do this step by step.
If the governor says 25 people can gather together, I do not think it would be wise for us to fully open for worship. I am responsible to keep you well. We will need to map out how Holy Communion could be celebrated with the six foot distancing in place. My utmost desire is to protect you, and your health.
Listen to the news this week, and listed to the governor’s recommendation, then, wait for an annoucement from me and New Spirit with our “re-opening” stages.
Peace to you this day.
Pastor Alan
