This Week at New Spirit: God is Not Done With You
June 24-30, 2026
Pastor’s Reflection
This week’s sermon reminded us that faith changes us by helping us step back and make room for God. We live in a world that pushes us to make life about achievement, recognition, and personal preference. But grace gives us a different way to live. God is not done with you, and God is not done with New Spirit. The Spirit is still growing fruit among us for the sake of others.
From Sunday’s Message
Faith changes us by teaching us to step back, loosen our grip on ego, and make room for God to work. In a culture that celebrates individual achievement, Jesus calls us toward a life shaped by service, humility, and trust. What looks dormant is not always dead. God is still forming us, still moving through New Spirit, and still growing fruit for the sake of others.
Sermon Thread: God is not done with you.
Weekly spiritual practice: Each day this week, name one place where you are holding tightly to control, preference, ego, or fear. Pray, “God, make room in me for your Spirit,” and then take one small action that serves someone else instead of protecting your own agenda.
This Sunday at New Spirit
Scripture: Matthew 25:31-40
Theme: Love Shows Up
Worship Time Reminder: 10:00 AM
This Sunday we continue our core values series by reflecting on the call to love in concrete, visible ways. Join us for worship as we remember that love is not just something we feel or say. Love shows up for the hungry, the stranger, the vulnerable, and the neighbor right in front of us.
Life at New Spirit
Mid-Year Financial Update:
As we move through the middle of the year, we give thanks for the generosity and faithfulness that make ministry possible at New Spirit. Member contributions are currently slightly above $90,000, which is about 48% of the annual budget. At this point in the year, that means congregational giving is very close to where we hoped it would be.
Total income is just above $230,000, or just under 63% of the annual budget. Budgeted expenses are about $150,000, or almost 40% of the annual budget, with non-budgeted expenses at $83,000. Our non-budgeted expenses are often related to our Blessings ministries, as well as items covered by restricted funds designated for specific ministries or needs, including funds such as Gearhart and the Pastoral Discretionary Fund.
Numbers never tell the whole story, but they do help us see how our shared ministry is being supported and sustained. The simple version is this: New Spirit continues to be active, generous, and careful. We are grateful for the ways this congregation shows up—not only with time, energy, and prayer, but also through financial support that helps make ministry possible.
