Volunteer Opportunities

Matthew 25:40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Serving our neighbors in need is a core value of New Spirit Lutheran Church. Our members are involved in several charitable activities throughout the Tucson area.

As a congregation we have an intentional focus of serving our siblings that are dealing with issues related to poverty, especially the unhoused and those dealing with food insecurity.

Every Tuesday morning during the TUSD school year, volunteers gather to create over 300 weekend food bags for local elementary school students. These meals are distributed to four local elementary schools to help provide nourishment over the weekends.

Every 2nd Saturday of the month we host a hot meal for those that are unhoused and/or those facing food insecurity. During these 2nd Saturdays we also offer clothing, basic hygiene items, shelf stable food, and more to those that are in need. Homeless blessings bags are also packed at these events and then distributed by members throughout the month. These 2nd Saturday events serve at least 50 people of all ages. We are one of the few locations on the east side of Tucson that serves those that are unhoused or facing food insecurity.

You are invited to be part of these ministries. If you are interested in volunteering through New Spirit Lutheran Church, you can contact the Office Administrator, Nancy DiFebbo, at 520-296-2461.
